He was born Feb. 27, 1974 in Paris But he grew up in Fontainebleau. He started taking piano lessons at age four. Wrembel started playing guitar as a teen mostly to learn 70s rock. Then he got into jazz and especially guitarist Django Reinhardt who is revered in Fontainebleau where he lived. Wrembel studied at the American School of Modern Music and then at Berklee in Boston. He released his debut album after graduating. Though Wrembel plays in Reinhardt's style, he writes his own songs. He also records for his own label. Wrembel recorded with mandolinist David Grisman in 2005. His song Big Brother got Woody Allen's attention and he used it in his 2008 film Vicky Christina Barcelona. Then he used Bistro Fada as the theme for his 2011 film Midnight in Paris. The film was nominated for several Oscars and Wrembel performed on the Oscars. Bistro Fada is from Wrembel's 2011 album Origins with Koran Hasanagic on rhythm guitar, Dave Speranza on bass, Nick Anderson on drums and David Langlois on washboard and percussion.
