AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Nate Najar

Artist:Nate Najar f/Daniela Soledade

Song:O Pato

Album:Jazz Samba Pra Sempre

Charlie Byrd fans will be interested in Nate Najar because he plays Brazilian jazz on classical guitar just like Byrd. This 2022 album is a 60th anniversary tribute to Byrd's 1962 album Jazz Samba. Najar was born Aug. 28, 1981 in St. Petersburg, FL. He studied classical guitar as a teen. His teacher Frank Mullen taught him about Charlie Byrd. Mullen ran the Florida branch of Charlie Byrd Music Stores. Najar started out working with drummer Chuck Redd in Washington. Redd played with Byrd so Najar learned a lot from him. As a leader, Najar has recorded mostly for Blue Line Music which specializes in Brazilian music. He made his debut as a leader in 2002. Jazz Samba Pra Sempre is Najar's latest album. As I said, it's a 60th anniversary tribute to Byrd's 1962 album Jazz Samba. This album was important in popularizing Brazilian music in the US. Of course Stan Getz played sax on that record. Jeff Rupert plays tenor sax on this record. Rupert has played in big bands like Sam Rivers Rivbea All Star Orchestra. Herman Burney is on bass. He has played with Freddy Cole and others. Chuck Redd is on drums. O Pato is one of two songs with singer Daniela Soledade. She also records for Blue Line. She's Brazilian and her father and grandfather were musicians. Daniela moved to the US in 2003. Charlie Byrd fans should check this out. Here's the video for O Pato by Nate Najar featuring Daniela Soledade.
