Ryan Hurd was a Nashville songwriter before getting his own record deal and scoring a top five country hit with the 2021 single Chasing After You featuring his wife Maren Morris. He was born Nov. 2, 1986 in Chicago but he grew up in Kalamazoo, MI. After moving to Nashville, Hurd met Maren while writing the song Last Turn Home for Tim McGraw. They married in 2018 and their son was born in 2020. Hurd's biggest hit as a songwriter was the 2015 #1 single Lonely Tonight for Blake Shelton. He has also written hits for Lady A and Luke Bryan. Hurd signed with Sony Music Nashville in 2017 and released four EPs before releasing the album Pelago in 2021. The album is on Arista. Chasing After You reached #3 on the Country Singles chart. Most of the album was produced by Aaron Eshuis who looks to be Hurd's best friend from Kalamazoo. He also produces Scotty McCreery. Chasing After You was produced by guitarist Teddy Reimer. Likewise, Hurd co-wrote all the songs except Chasing After You which was written by Jerry Flowers and Brinley Addington. Flowers co-wrote the 2014 Sam Hunt hit House Party. Maren Morris is one of today's biggest country stars. So maybe that's why Chasing After You was a hit.
