AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Besnard Lakes

Artist:The Besnard Lakes
Song:Albatross
Album:The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night

Fans of neo-psychedelia are going to want to check out The Besnard Lakes. Albatross is one of their more popular songs. The Besnard Lakes are from Montreal led by the husband wife duo of Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas. He plays guitar and she sings and plays bass. The Besnard Lakes is a real place in Saskatchewan. Lasek owns Breakglass Studio in Montreal. He has worked on albums by Wolf Parade among others. At first the Besnard Lakes were a full band. But everyone left and Lasek recorded their 2003 debut album themselves with some help from guest musicians. They do hire musicians to tour but they come and go. For the 2007 album The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse, they signed with Jagjaguwar Records. The album was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize. Albatross is from the 2010 album The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night. This was also nominated for a Polaris Music Prize. They also scored the 2010 film Sympathy For Delicious for actor Mark Ruffalo. Their latest album A Coliseum Complex Museum was released last year. The Besnard Lakes will never have pop hit singles. Their music isn't commercial. But those who enjoy psychedelic influenced rock should enjoy their music. They do tour but operating his recording studio is Lasek's bread and butter. So any tours have to work around his schedule. Here's the video for Albatross by The Besnard Lakes.
