Here's the match video of Sasha Banks vs Charlotte. It was the main event of last night's episode of RAW. This was the first time since 2004 that women were in the main event of RAW. And that alone makes it worth posting on the blog. So Sasha won the title in August and then Charlotte regained it at SummerSlam. Apparently the WWE was concerned about Sasha's back. But it wasn't serious and Sasha got the rematch last night. Thirty seconds into the match, Sasha hits a suicide dive to the outside. For a change, Charlotte catches her properly. Then they go for a commercial. When we return, Charlotte is in control working on Sasha's back. Sasha gets a few hope spots. But for the most part, Charlotte is in control. At one point, Charlotte goes to the top turnbuckle probably to do a moonsault. Instead she does a Sky Twister Press and she was offline but Sasha catches her. I don't expect Michael Cole to know what a Sky Twister Press is but long time joshi puroresu fans will know that it was the signature move of 90s All Japan Women wrestler Chapparita ASARI. So someone backstage (probably Sara Del Ray) knew that. And the ironic thing is ASARI usually missed that move and would then lose the match. I'm pretty sure Charlotte didn't know that. The turning point of the match is when Sasha kicks out of Charlotte's Natural Selection finisher and then Sasha wins with her Banks Statement finisher. The post match reaction from both wrestlers is perfect. And there are rumours that they will do a Hell In A Cell match. The WWE has never done a women's HIAC match. HHH is probably pushing for it over the objections of Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn. It will be very interesting to see if they actually do this. Meanwhile, enjoy the video of this historic match.
