Veronica Macedo replaces Germaine De Randamie on Sept. 3 UFC show

Veronica Macedo
Yesterday Germaine De Randamie posted on Instagram that an injury has forced her to pull out of her upcoming match against Ashlee Evans-Smith. Then Ashlee posted on Facebook that her new opponent is Veronica Macedo. This will be on UFC Fight Night 93 Sept. 3 at Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany. MMA Junkie reported that Veronica is from Venezuela so you might be wondering why the UFC would bring in a fighter from South America for a European show. Well, Veronica was born in Venezuela but she lives in Poznan, Poland and trains at Ankos MMA. She also lived in Nottingham, England a few years ago. She is the only female fighter at Ankos and the first from that gym to come to the UFC. Her record is 5-0-1. She likes to fight a lot. She had three fights scheduled including one in Korea before the UFC called her. And actually the Korean fight was to be against Ji Yeon Kim who I know is on the UFC radar. They tried to sign her to fight Rin Nakai at last year's Korea show but the UFC couldn't come to an agreement with her management. Last week Veronica fought Iren Racz to a draw at Innferno Fighting Championships in Hungary. Obviously the UFC is a big step up in competition for Veronica. But Ashlee hasn't looked good in the UFC. One never knows. Stranger things have happened. And Veronica sure looks good in a Gi.
