Tame Impala started out as a home recording project for Aussie Kevin Parker. Now it's grown to a full band getting critical acclaim and touring internationally. You may have heard them on the HBO series Entourage. Parker is from Perth, Australia. After being in several bands, Parker launched Tame Impala as a home recording project in 2007. He posted some of the songs on MySpace and that led to a contract with Modular Recordings. Parker agreed to hire musicians for touring. A 2008 EP did well and Tame Impala toured England. Their first full length CD Innerspeaker was released 2010. The album was critically acclaimed and Tame Impala toured the US for the first time. Elephant is from the 2012 album Lonerism. The psychedelic influence is fairly typical of Tame Impala and this extends to the video. Several Tame Impala songs including Elephant have appeared on the HBO series Entourage. And for the 2014 CD Currents, Tame Impala signed a US record deal with Interscope. Since then, Tame Impala continue to tour. But Parker seems less enthusiastic about continuing the band because it costs too much money. He feels he can go back to his own studio and record anything he wants. Interscope may have other ideas. Recently Parker said he is recording new music. But he's not sure if it will be for Tame Impala or something else. Here's the video for Elephant by Tame Impala.
