AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Wild Belle

Artist:Wild Belle
Song:Keep You
Album:Isles

The brother sister duo Wild Belle got some buzz when Keep You was used in the 2012 hit film Pitch Perfect. But the song isn't on the soundtrack CD. It is on Wild Belle's 2013 debut CD Isles. And now they have a new CD coming out. Elliott and Natalie Bergman are from Chicago. Elliott studied at the University of Michigan and it was there that he formed the band NOMO. Elliott plays sax. He plays the baritone sax solo on Keep You. NOMO was a mix of afro beat, reggae and jazz fusion. They recorded several albums for the jazz label Ubiquity Records. Elliott brought Natalie in to sing background vocals for NOMO. The two started writing songs together and Natalie sang a lead vocal for the NOMO track Upside Down. Elliott, Natalie and NOMO guitarist Erik Hall decided to start a new band and that became Wild Belle. NOMO last recorded in 2009 and it looks like they may have disbanded in 2011. A performance at the 2011 South By Southwest festival got Wild Belle a deal with Columbia Records and their debut CD Isles was released in 2013. Keep You was the first single and it appeared in the 2012 hit film Pitch Perfect. But the song wasn't on the soundtrack CD. So if you want it, you have to get Isles. It's available as a budget CD. Wild Belle has the NOMO influence but Natalie sings lead vocals and writes all the lyrics. Elliott writes and produces the music. Wild Belle appeared on the 2015 Major Lazer single Be Together. Wild Belle has been on tour. They hire musicians to fill out the touring band. Their new album Dreamland will be released in April. They have already released a couple of singles from the album. Here's the video for Keep You by Wild Belle.
