Liz Carmouche to replace injured Miesha Tate on Mar. 5 Strikeforce show

Liz Carmouch
Bad news, folks. Mauro Ranallo reported this afternoon that Miesha Tate suffered a knee injury in training and has been scratched from her Mar. 5 shot at Marloes Coenen's Strikeforce 135lb Championship. We don't yet know the extent of her injury or how long she will be out. Undefeated Liz Carmouche will step in to face Marloes. Liz is a former Marine and trains at Team Hurricane Awesome in San Diego. Her record is 5-0 and her last win was over Jan Finney on the Nov. 19 Strikeforce show in Jackson, MS. She was very impressive in that fight. But I don't think she has enough experience to handle someone with Marloes Coenen's skill and experience. And she's never gone five rounds. As we saw in her win over Sarah Kaufman, Marloes is very dangerous at all times even on her back. Liz would not have been my first choice as long as Shayna Baszler is under Strikeforce contract doing nothing. Shayna just has a lot more experience and would be a better opponent for Marloes. It seems Strikeforce didn't even offer the fight to Shayna. I guess she's not too thrilled about that. Neither am I. The change in this highly anticipated fight certainly takes a lot of air out of this show.

  1. It sure does take the air out of the fight. Until strikeforce takes the division serious, this will happen again.
