Ham Seo Hee wins at DEEP 52

Ham Seo Hee pounds Saori Ishioka
Today's DEEP 52 show at Korakuen Hall had a women's match on the show with JEWELS poster girl Saori Ishioka seeking revenge on Korean kickboxer Ham Seo Hee. Ham beat her back in 2008. For someone who is not really an MMA fighter, Ham has done very well in Japan. She doesn't do MMA at home in Korea. The main reason for this is she is a great kickboxer. If she improved her ground game, she would be very hard to beat. She's also a southpaw. I don't think Ishioka is good enough on the ground to counter Ham's striking and I don't think her karate is much better. The fight was scheduled for two five minute rounds meaning a draw is possible unless one fighter dominates. And that's what happened. Ham came out and hammered Ishioka with punches and kicks and Ishioka didn't have an answer for it. Ishioka tried to take her down near the end of the first round but Ham stuffed it and continued to pound her. And when Ishioka took Ham down in round two, Ham got top position and pounded her. Ham continued to dominate and won by unanimous decision. So will Saori Ishioka retire? She certainly threatened to do exactly that after she lost in the JEWELS tournament last summer. And her teammate Shizuka Sugiyama is leaving MMA and moving to Australia. So I would not be surprised if Saori Ishioka quit MMA and move home to Yokohama.
