Kana REALLY wants to get over as a heel

So I wanted to talk a bit about Kana's Joshi Manifesto that was published recently in Weekly Pro Wrestling only because I think some in the joshi business and some fans are taking it a little too seriously. Without quoting it directly, it says that joshi wrestlers should stop doing fake moves, don't coddle each other and a wrestler should get out of the business if she has no personality. Though I think Kana believes some of this stuff, I think the main purpose of this is to get her over as a heel in SMASH. And she's doing a pretty good job. SMASH held a press conference with Shuri, Tomoka Nakagawa and Toshie Uematsu and they were asked to comment on the manifesto. The veteran Uematsu was the only one to say anything and she just dismissed it as nonsense. I agree with that. Kana obviously likes to work a stiffer style than most joshi wrestlers. She really likes the BATTLARTS style. But that's not really joshi puroresu and never has been. I do agree that some wrestlers need to work on their personalities. But the reason I think this is mostly a work or an attenpt at a worked shoot is it doesn't address the biggest problem in today's joshi business and that's selfishness. There are so many meaningless one shot vanity shows that it just fragments the business. In fact, Kana and Io & Mio Shirai just put on this Triple Tales show at Shin-kiba 1st Ring. That's a vanity show mainly designed to sell merchandise to marks. They didn't fill the joint and the matches were a bit of a mess. She's not the only one doing this but she's the one with a manifesto. I don't know if it was worth it for her to piss off the joshi business just to get over in SMASH. I guess she could blame TAJIRI if the whole thing backfires on her.
