Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Big Bad Blog Video Theater-Carla Esparza vs Virna Jandiroba
Here's the match video of Carla Esparza vs Virna Jandiroba from last night's UFC show in Sunrise, FL. Virna was the Invicta Strawweight Champion. She stepped in on short notice when Livinha Souza pulled out. Carla is a former Invicta and UFC champ who has been on a skid lately. Her strength is wrestling. Virna's is BJJ. I expected most of the match to happen on the ground. But I did not expect Carla to go for a takedown that early in round one. I guess she wanted to get top position and win the fight that way. She was never really close to getting a submission because she was defending Virna's submission attempts from the bottom. But Carla adjusted well and she won round one 10-9. Virna did better in round two so I scored that round 10-9 for Virna. So the decision was going to depend on who was on top in round three and that was Carla. So I scored round three 10-9 for Carla and the fight 29-28. Two of the judges scored it the same and the third scored it 30-27 for Carla. The lesson Virna should learn is she can't live on the bottom hunting for submissions. Judges won't score that in her favor. Carla said she worked on her strength and conditioning at the UFC PI and that paid off with a win. Enjoy the video!
