Song:The Climb
Album:Hannah Montana: The Movie
Miley Cyrus has had two stages to her career. Her rise as the star of The Disney Channel movie series Hannah Montana and after she left Disney. This is a look at her beginnings. She was born Destiny Hope Cyrus Nov. 23, 1992 in Franklin, TN. Her father is country music star and actor Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley is a childhood nickname. Her family moved to Toronto in 2001 while her dad appeared in the TV series Doc. And her first credited appearance was in a 2003 episode of Doc. She also appeared in Tim Burton's film Big Fish. Then she auditioned for Hannah Montana. The series premiered in 2006. The show became a big hit especially with teenage girls. At the same time, Miley signed a four album deal with Disney's Hollywood label. Disney released soundtrack albums for the first two seasons of Hannah Montana and Miley toured as the character with The Cheetah Girls. The TV soundtrack albums were certified 3XPlatinum. But there were no big hit singles. At the same time, Miley released two solo albums. The 2007 album Meet Miley Cyrus was certified 3XPlatinum. Her two top ten hit singles were See You Again in 2007 and 7 Things in 2008. Then Hannah Montana: The Movie was released theatrically. It was a big hit and so was the movie soundtrack. The Climb reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Various producers and songwriters worked on the soundtrack. The Climb was produced by Westlife producer John Shanks. The song was written by Nashville songwriters Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe. This was Miley's only top ten hit from Hannah Montana. The show continued but it became clear that Miley wanted a more mature image. And eventually she left Disney for RCA. Of course Miley is a big star but she owes a lot of that to Hannah Montana for establishing her. Here's the video for The Climb by Miley Cyrus.
