AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Flook

Artist:Flook

Song:Asturian Way

Album:Haven

If you are a fan of flutes, the British folk music group Flook may be right up your alley. They have been around since 1995 and they seem to be unknown outside of England and Ireland. They were called Three Nations Flutes when they were formed in Bath, England in 1995 by Becky Morris and three flutists; Sarah Allen, Brian Finnegan and Michael McGoldrick. Becky left and then McGoldrick left in 1997 to join Capercaillie. Sarah had been in the groups Barely Works and Bigjig. Finnegan was in Upstairs in a Tent. The group name was changed to Flook after a comic strip character, Guitarist Ed Boyd was brought in along with John Joe Kelly on bodhran. Flook do not record traditional music. They wrote and produced everything on their own Flatfish label. Asturian Way is from the 2006 album Haven. Finnegan wrote that and a lot of the other songs. Boyd produced with recording engineer Mark Tucker. Flook split up in 2008. But they reformed in 2013, released a 2019 album and still tour. They will be in Japan next month. So as I said, if you like flute music, you might like Flook. Here's Flook performing Asturian Way at the 2013 Fleadh Festival in Ireland.
