Here's the match video of Asuka vs Nia Jax from last night's episode of RAW. So the story is that Asuka has not said who she will face at Wrestlemania though it's been known for a while that she will face Charlotte. So this match has to be handled like Alexa Bliss will be her opponent. The WWE was going to announce Charlotte as Asuka's opponent last week but they decided to delay that for now. I suppose that could still be changed but it doesn't look like that. This match was very similar to their other matches. Nia beats up Asuka but gets overconfident and Asuka outsmarts her. The big difference in this match was the finish. Again Nia thinks she has the match in the bag. Asuka is flat on her back. When Nia goes to grab her, Asuka clamps on the armbar. So as we have seen in several of her matches, Asuka playing possum turns into a finish. The remarkable thing is that Nia power bombs Asuka, slams her into the turnbuckle twice and then she tries to toss her over the top rope. But Asuka refuses to let go of her arm. Asuka bounces off the top rope and the momentum flips them both over into the armbar position. That's when Nia taps out. Asuka came up with a very creative finish that I don't think we have ever seen. And the other thing she was able to do was get Nia over as a babyface. That's why Asuka left right after the finish. There was no celebration as she normally does. And sure enough the crowd starts to applaud Nia after Asuka leaves. And then later in the show, Alexa gives Nia a very condescending pep talk. That sets up Alexa vs Nia at Wrestlemania. The main complaint I have seen about this series of matches is they have done nothing for Asuka. But the goal was to turn Nia babyface for Wrestlemania. Mission accomplished. Asuka is going to Smackdown for Wrestlemania and she could turn herself heel to face Charlotte if she wants to. She could always come out in her clown paint. She can do whatever she wants and I know she likes to keep fans guessing. Enjoy the video!
