Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Rose Namajunas added to Nov. 4 UFC show

On a Fox Sports Procast that you can watch here, UFC Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk announced that she will defend her title against Rose Namajunas at UFC 217 Nov. 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. That means there are three title fights on this show. We've known for a while that this match would happen. Only the location and date were in question. And that turned out to be more complicated than you might think. Joanna really wants to fight at MSG just like last year. But how is her PPV points payoff affected by three title matches on the show? Could that cost Joanna a lot of money? The alternative would be to have this fight headline UFC Fight Night 118 Oct. 21 in Gdansk, Poland. Joanna gets to fight in front of her family. So I'm sure she was very conflicted. But when the UFC announced a few days ago that Donald Cerrone vs Darren Till would main event UFC Fight Night 118, that meant Joanna made the decision to fight at MSG. Everyone knows what Joanna will try to do. She may be the best striker in the UFC and she has great takedown defense. And she has tremendous endurance to go five rounds. And I think she has improved since moving to American Top Team and Perfecting Athletes. Rose looked great in her last fight with a submission win over Michelle Waterson. She should be the underdog in this fight. In the past, Rose has been inconsistent and I doubt that she can break Joanna's defense. She might be able to take Joanna down early in the fight. But we saw Claudia Gadelha run out of gas after winning round one and I don't know how Rose prevents that. She's never gone five rounds and Joanna is built for the long haul. That could be the difference in this fight.
