AccuRadio Song Of The Day-IMA

Artist:IMA
Song:Baila
Album:Best Of 2002-12

Marie-Andree Bergeron is known in Quebec as IMA. She has had some success as a singer and actress. She is unknown outside Quebec which is not unusual. She was born May 11, 1978 in Chateauguay, QC but she grew up in Montreal. Her early interest was in theater. She appeared in a couple of films that were made in Montreal including The Bone Collector. She didn't like how acting was going so she decided to try music. She decided to call herself IMA because it was easy to pronounce. Her big break came when she appeared on a tribute album for the late racer Ayrton Senna. She also won a couple of new artist contests in Montreal. This got her a manager and he put her in touch with session bassist Dominique Messier who had worked with Celine Dion. He produced three singles including Baila which was a chart success in Quebec in 2002. It doesn't look like an album was released at the time. But you can get Baila on this budget comp. She did release the album Pardonne-moi Si Je T'aime in 2005 produced by Tino Izzo. Her 2007 album Smile sold well in Quebec. That success may have been because she starred in the Radio Canada TV series Casino. IMA continues to record. She released an album last year and she continues to perform live in Quebec. Here's the video for Baila by IMA.
