AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Victoire Scott

Artist:Victoire Scott
Song:4eme Dimension
Album:Ultra Chicks Volume 6: Vous Dancez Mademoiselle

If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you will know that I am a big fan of the Ye Ye singers of France from the 60s. Most of them are unknown outside France but the music is outstanding. Usually I can find artist bio info no matter how obscure the singer is. But Victoire Scott seems to be a mystery woman. 4eme Dimension from 1968 is probably her best known song. You can get it on this Ultra Chicks CD. And there's a great video clip. But even those who are experts about Ye Ye can't seen to come up with much info about Victoire Scott. I can tell you that she recorded a handful of singles between 1968-71 for Decca, London and CBS. 4eme Dimension was her second single on Decca in 1968. The song was written by Christian Turban and Guy Bonnet. Bonnet is an experienced songwriter but this was early in his career. Turban seemed to write only for Scott. Supposedly his lyrics in this song are about an LSD trip which wouldn't surprise me in the late 60s. So maybe they were a couple. The arranger and orchestra leader was Jean-Daniel Mercier who worked with many singers of that era first with Vogue but then he worked for Decca, London and Polydor. But no one seems to know anything about Victoire Scott or what became of her after she stopped recording in 1971. But at least we get a great video from her. Here's the video for 4eme Dimension by Victoire Scott.
