AccuRadio Song Of The Day-HAIM

Artist:HAIM
Song:The Wire
Album:Days Are Gone

The family girl group HAIM are from the San Fernando Valley in California. But they have had most of their success with their debut CD Days Are Gone in England and Australia. They are poised to break through with their next album. HAIM are sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim. Their father played soccer in his native Israel and played drums and their mom appeared on The Gong Show in the 70s. The family formed the cover band Rockinghaim and they played local gigs. All three girls played instruments and dad played drums. Then Este and Danielle were in the group Valli Girls who were due for a push by Nickelodeon in 2005. The girls decided to leave the group and concentrate on their own band part time while attending school. Then Danielle went on tour playing guitar first for Jenny Lewis and then Julian Casablancas. She turned down an offer from Cee-Lo Green to return to HAIM. It's 2011 and HAIM starts working at being a full time band. They hired drummer Dash Hutton. He is the son of Danny Hutton of Three Dog Night. They released an EP and this led to a deal with Polydor in England. So they toured there and they won the BBC's Sound of 2013 music industry poll as an act to watch. HAIM signed a US record deal with Columbia and their debut CD Days Are Gone did well considering there was no hit single. The Wire was a hit in Australia. The girls wrote all the songs. Their producer is Ariel Rechstaid. He is best known for producing Plain White T's and Vampire Weekend. He started out as lead singer of the 90s band The Hippos. Like HAIM, Rechstaid is the son of Israeli immigrants. HAIM toured in 2014 and they are now working on their next album. They said in a recent Beats 1 interview that the album is almost ready. We should see it early in 2016. HAIM is a group to watch. They could be big. Here's the video for The Wire by HAIM. It features an appearance by comedian Jorma Taccone. He sure cries a lot.
