Billy Currington's rugged good looks and working class image have launched him to a very successful country music singing career with a little pop crossover. Must Be Doin' Something Right was his first number one country hit in 2005. He was born Nov. 19, 1973 in Savannah, GA and grew up in the suburb of Rincon. He moved to Nashville to pursue a singing career. He worked for a concrete company and also as a personal trainer. One of his training clients got him to record some demos of his songs. One of those demos got the attention of country music singer Mark Wills and he introduced Currington to his producer Carson Chamberlain. This led to a contract with Mercury Records. Currington does write songs and some have been recorded by others. But in Nashville it doesn't mean he will record his own songs. Sometimes he does but most of the time he doesn't. His 2003 debut CD Billy Currington has two top five country hits including Walk A Little Straighter and I Got A Feelin'. He had a third top ten hit with his duet with Shania Twain Party For Two on her Greatest Hits CD. In 2005, Must Be Doin' Something Right was Currington's first #1 country music hit and it reached #39 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also won Hottest Video at the 2006 CMT Music Awards. The song was written by Nashville songwriters Marty Dodson and Patrick Jason Matthews. The CD Doin' Something Right reached #2 on the Country Album Chart, #11 on the Billboard Hot 200 and was certified Platinum. He has had three more singles top the country charts including People Are Crazy in 2009 and Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer in 2010. On Aug. 1, 2009, Currington suffered a concussion when a massive wind storm collapsed the stage at the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta.
