Jango Song Of The Day-Pete Townshend

Artist:Pete Townshend
Song:Let My Love Open The Door
Album:The Definitive Collection

Of course Pete Townshend is best known as lead guitarist and songwriter for The Who. His solo career has been spotty and it might surprise people that Let My Love Open The Door has been his biggest hit to date. Townshend recorded his first solo album Who Came First in 1972. It sounded a lot like Who's Next and it contained material from the unfinished Lifehouse project. He continued to work with The Who and recorded Rough Mix with Ronnie Lane in 1976. Empty Glass was released in 1980 and Let My Love Open The Door reached #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 200. Hip-O has re-released Empty Glass on CD with four demos as bonus tracks but you can also get this comp as a good sampler of Townshend's music. He disbanded The Who in 1982 and his follow up solo album All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes wasn't as good as Empty Glass and didn't sell very well. He continues to tour with The Who today but his solo work has been infrequent. His last solo CD was Psychoderlict in 1993. As great as he has been, maybe time has passed Pete Townshend by. Here's the video for Let My Love Open The Door by Pete Townshend.
