Artist:Antonio Neal
Song:Life Worth Living
Album:Days Of My Life
Antonio Neal is an outstanding contemporary gospel singer and songwriter but he's making his mark as a house producer for EMI Gospel so this 2005 CD Days Of My Life may turn out to be his only solo album. Antonio Neal Phelon grew up as one of seven children in the St. Louis suburb of Alton, IL. Of course he grew up singing in church. His family moved to Houston and the 6'4" Antonio earned a basketball scholarship at Texas A & M University. A knee injury ended his basketball career and Neal turned to music. He moved with his wife Sharralisa to Nashville and released a couple of CDs independently as Amani in 1999. One of these CDs got the attention of TobyMac of DC Talk and owner of Gotee Records. He brought Neal in to work with his Samoan group The Katinas. This led to some interest from EMI Gospel president Ken Pennell and Neal was hired to work with teen rapper Lil iROCC Williams. He has also worked with Contemporary Christian acts like Rachel Lampa, Jump 5 & Jody McBrayer. Neal made his EMI Gospel solo recording debut with Days Of My Life in 2005. I recommend it to gospel fans. He's an excellent performer but he was soon very busy producing other EMI Gospel artists including Darlene McCoy, Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, V3, Canton Jones and most recently on the debut CD by female singer Niyoki. But at least we got this one album by Antonio Neal. It doesn't look like he'll be stepping to the front anytime soon. Here's the video for The Only One by Antonio Neal.
