Haruyama/Kuragaki win Daily Sports Womens Tag Team Championship

The second Daily Sports 60th Anniversary show was Aug. 3 at Korakuen Hall in front of 870 fans. I guess nostalgia isn't enough to fill the place. The main thing was the final of the Daily Sports Womens Tag Team Championship tournament. Jaguar Yokota welcomed fans to begin the show and the opener was an Ito Dojo match with Ayako Hamada & Hanako Kobayashi vs Kaoru Ito & Tomoko Morii. Kobayashi begins with dropkick to Morii. Ayako tags in with a dropkick followed by a double dropkick. Ayako stomps her and hits another dropkick. Ito tries to distract Ayako but Kobayashi hits a knee lift on Morii and Ayako applies a Boston crab. Morii gets to the ropes. Ito tags in and applies a single leg crab on Kobayashi. Ayako tags in and Ito nails her with two choke slams. Morii tags in and Ayako attacks her. A little teamwork as Ayako whips Kobayashi into the ropes and hits Morii with a cross body followed by a lariat on Ito. Ayako is whipped into the ropes and hits a double dropkick followed by Kobayashi's cross body on Morii. Morii comes off the top with a punch on Kobayashi followed by Ito's diving foot stamp. Ayako attempts a power bomb but can't get Ito up and is backdropped. Ayako gets an armdrag and then a rear chinlock on Ito. Morii tags in and whips Ayako into the ropes and drives her head into the mat. She goes to the top and Ito planchas her onto Ayako for two. Morii hits two missile dropkicks and a backslide for two. Ayako reverses it and Ito breaks it up. Kobayashi cuts her off and Ayako's moonsault press wins over Morii at 14:14.

Next is another battle royal. The prize is a trip to Guam. Participants are Mizuki Endo, Esui, GAMI, Jumbo Hori, Sonoko Kato, KAZUKI, Kei'to, Pinkie Mayuca, Chikayo Nagashima, Arisa Nakajima, Misaki Ohata, Yumi Ohka, Harley Saito, Mariko Yoshida and a mystery paticipant. It's the usual nonsense. A lot of standing around. Tamura & Hori use a double team shoulder block on Mayuca. Then Hori knocks Tamura down. Ohka & Kei'to use a double high kick on GAMI. GAMI gives Ohka a dirty look so Ohka goes after Kei'to and then GAMI & Ohka go after Yoshida. Nagashima & Kato hit a double high kick on Ke'to. Esui has been getting tossed around but Yoshida helps her and Esui bodyslams Kato and Yoshida bodyslams Kato. Then Esui does the giant swing to Nagashima but makes herself dizzy. Then Tamura and others throw her out. One spot had GAMI using her megaphone as a weapon and blaming others and the wrestlers gang up on whoever is blamed. There are a lot of other spots like this with the wrestlers just standing around and looking at each other. There's also a piling on spot in the middle of the ring. The mystery participant is someone dressed up as a cartoon cat. Huh? They get rid of whoever that is and Tamura, GAMI & Nakajima are left after disposing of Ohata. Nakajima gets tossed and the Tamura nails GAMI with a flying forearm to win the trip to Guam at 14:47. I was hoping GAMI would win a one way ticket to Palookaville.

Next was Tigers Mask Lady & Commando Bolshoi vs Jaguar Yokota & Kaori Yoneyama. I don't know what Bolshoi plans to do with Tigers Mask Lady but the purpose of this match was to put the character over. Yoneyama takes most of the abuse and is tossed around mostly by Tigers Mask Lady. Bolshoi does walk the ropes. And they get Yoneyama in a double Rita Romero special. Jaguar gets a bit back but Tigers Mask Lady hits a splash from the top rope followed by a tiger driver on Yoneyama for the win 10:17. Next was Dump Matsumoto & Sasori vs Misae Genki & Hiroyo Muto. It's what one would expect. Muto gets the crap beat out of her and Genki saves the day. Sasori brains Muto with a chair outside the ring. Then Dump pulls out her fork and busts Muto open. They continue to brutalize Muto. Dump uses the fork on Genki but Genki is made of sterner stuff and beats up Dump and her whole gang. Genki wins over Sasori with a chokeslam at 12:31.

Next was Jumping Bomb Angels vs Double Inoues. Lioness Asuka greeted the crowd before the match. Itsuki Yamazaki comes off the ropes with a flying double chop on Takako Inoue. Kyoko Inoue gives a stinkface to Noriyo Tateno. Tateno returns the favour. Kyoko gets her in a Rita Romero Special. Yamazaki tags in and takes Kyoko down with a flying head scissors. Kyoko escapes but Yamazaki gets her in an abdominal stretch. Kyoko powers out and tags Takako. Tateno tags in and puts Takako in a Rita Romero Special. Takako escapes and applies an STF. Kyoko tags in and Tateno hits a lariat. Yamazaki comes in and they hit a double suplex on Kyoko. But Kyoko comes back with a superplex on Tateno. Takako hits a knee to the back of Tateno's head from the top rope followed by a double team splash mountain. Yamazaki breaks it up with a missile dropkick. The match ends in a ten minute draw. JBA will be on this Sunday's LLPW show and then next week's WAVE show and then Yamazaki returns home to New York. Just seeing her looking that good and doing a missile dropkick is worth the price of admission.

The main event has Kayoko Haruyama & Tsubasa Kuragaki vs Manami Toyota & Yumiko Hotta for the Daily Sports Womens Tag Team Title. They are trying to build some heat for this with Haruyama calling Hotta & Toyota "aunties". Haruyama & Kuragaki attack before the bell but wind on the floor. Toyota climbs to the top rope but gets knocked to the floor by Kuragaki and Kuragaki hits a moonsault to the floor. Back in the ring, Kuragaki hits Toyota with a vertical suplex. Haruyama tags in and Toyota dropkicks her. Hotta ties her up in the ropes and Toyota dropkicks her in the back. Hotta tags in and applies a camel clutch while Toyota kicks Haruyama in the chest. Kuragaki unsuccessfully tries to break it up. Toyota does her Indian Death Lock spot. Hotta applies a figure four leglock followed by a legdrop. Toyota & Kuragaki tag in. Kuragaki hits two dropkicks and then Haruyama hits a missile dropkick. Toyota hits a German suplex for two. Hotta comes in but misses a double lariat and Kuragaki hits a double lariat and a double backdrop suplex. Then Haruyama hits a lariat. Haruyama & Hotta exchange kicks. Then Toyota hits Haryuama from behind with a missile dropkick. Kuragaki breaks up the pin. Hotta & Toyota team up on Haruyama but Kuragaki does her double backbreaker spot.

Kuragaki nailed Toyota with her Metal Wing finisher but Hotta broke up the pin. Hotta was double shoulder blocked by Haruyama & Kuragaki. Toyota lariats Haruyama followed by the Japanese Ocean Queen Be Bomb. Haruyama kicks out. Uh oh. She tries it again and Haruyama floats out of it. Hotta lifts Haruyama on her shoulders and Toyota hits her with a missile dropkick followed by a power slam. Haruyama throws Hotta out of the ring. Kuragaki hits Toyota with the Metal Wing and Haruyama nails Toyota with a power slam followed by her Keene Hammer finisher for the win at 21:23. Kayoko Haruyama & Tsubasa Kuragaki are the first Daily Sports Womens Champions. We don't know yet what will be done with these titles but we may find out at this weekend's JWP show because Yumiko Hotta will be there. That could be very interesting.
