Don't look for logic in OZ Academy Tag Team Tournament

So Oz Academy ran shows on June 7 at Shinujku FACE and June 8 at the Taisho Azaria Hall in Osaka to continue the OZ Academy Tag Team Tournament. The silliness has been fun so far but I think maybe Mayumi Ozaki had a little booking brain cramp at this point. The June 7 show began with Devil Masami's retirement tour against Hiroyo Matsumoto. The pattern of these matches is the youngster isn't supposed to get much offense in. Matsumoto gets Devil in a body scissors but Devil turns it around and applies a hanging surfboard. Devil continues to work on her back and saps her strength with a reverse chinlock. Matsumoto hits two missile dropkicks for a two count but Devil hits a head butt, a lariat and finishes her with the Fire Valley at 10:19.

Next was KAORU vs Chikayo Nagashima. Nagashima tries to get the crowd going but KAORU hits a high kick. A test of strength and KAORU gets control, stands on her throat while she & Police taunt the crowd. Then a camel clutch with the usual hair grabbing and eye gouge. Nagashima gets revenge with her own camel clutch but KAORU nails Nagashima with a board. Nagashima gets the board and retaliates. KAORU goes to the top with the board but is stopped by Sonoko Kato. They go outside the ring and Police assaults Nagashima and it's the usual mess. Mayumi Ozaki & Carlos Amano get involved. Kaoru hits her with the board again. Ozaki distracts Nagashima and KAORU sprays her with the mist and hits the Excalibur for the win at 15:02.

Next was Ran YuYu & AKINO vs Takako Inoue & Hiren. This was mostly Hiren getting her ass kicked. Ran gets her in a camel clutch and AKINO kicks her in the chest. This continues until Takako hits a double lariat. Ran gets Hiren in an armbar and taunts Takako. Takako tags in and throws Ran around but Hiren is back and double teamed again. Hiren hits a dropkick and tags Takako but she's trapped in the corner by AKINO. Hiren breaks it up and Takako hits a high kick followed by a double face buster. The result is a two count for Hiren. Hiren gets an ankle lock on Hiren and follows it with a missile dropkick. While AKINO distracts Takako, Ran get Hiren to submit with an armbar at 21:11.

Next was Mayumi Ozaki vs Sonoko Kato. As you would expect. Ozaki & D-Fix gang up on Kato. You know the drill. Mika Nishio distracts the ref while Ozaki & Police beat up Kato. Kato comes back but winds up on the floor. D-Fix beats her & Nagashima up while Ozaki takes a rest in the ring. When Kato returns to the ring, she is greeted by an Ozaki chair shot to the head. Ozaki uses the chair some more. Nagashima breaks things up and takes out Police. Lots more outside interference as KAORU nails Kato with a board and Ozaki wins with the Ozakick 14:12.

The OZ Academy Tag Team Title Quarter Final was the main event with Carlos Amano and her new partner Dynamite Kansai against Aja Kong & Manami Toyota. Keep in mind that one of the rules in this tournament is immediate DQ for outside interference. Wait a minute. This is OZ Academy. The match begins with Aja beating up Amano. Toyota comes in and gets Amano in a camel clutch. Kansai breaks it up and beats on Toyota. There's a lot of confusion and near falls and Kansai & Aja exchange power moves. Amano hits Aja with a cross body from the top rope. Aja comes back with power and an elbow drop. Toyota tags in and hits a missile dropkick. Toyota hits a Japanese Ocean Suplex but Kansai breaks it up followed by more near falls. But then D-Fix comes out just to cause trouble. Hiroyo Matsumoto tries to stop them but winds up in the ring and Amano & Kansai win by DQ 15:53. I told you it was stupid. Amano was busted open over the left eye at some point.

The Osaka show began with Ran YuYu vs Hiren. Hiren attacks Ran before the bell and Police & Ozaki interfere. But Ran comes back with an eye poke and a hair throw. Hiren gets Ran in a body scissors. Ran turns it around, chokes her and follows with a bow & arrow and a surfboard. Hiren hits a dropkick but Ran hits a brainbuster followed by a flying knee in the corner and a face wash. Hiren tries a sunset flip but Ran grabs the rope. But Hiren hits a high kick. Ran blocks a second kick and throws Hiren by the hair and hits a diving knee drop for two. Then Police kicks Ran and Ozaki hits her with a chair. Hiren gets an achilles hold and follows with a neck breaker drop. Ran gets her foot on the rope. She then hits a missile dropkick but Ran counters with a blockbuster. Ran hits a running knee attack for two. D-Fix tries to interfere but are stopped by AKINO & Hiroyo Matsumoto. Ran wins with a diving knee drop at 12:40.

The Devil Masami retirement tour continues but this time Manami Toyota is the opponent. They lock up and Devil punches Toyota and leg drops on her left leg. Toyota reverses this and applies an Indian death lock. She tries for a Rita Romero Special but it doesn't work and Devil ducks outside the ring. A test of strength and Toyota gets a head scissors. Devil escapes But Toyota does her trademark dropkick into the ropes followed by a moonsault press and a cradle roll for two. Devil comes back with a lariat followed by a power bomb and a sleeper but Toyota gets her foot on the ropes. Toyota hits a missile dropkick followed by a moonsault press for two. A German suplex for two. Toyota goes up to the top. Devil catches her but Toyota reverses her attempted avalanche into a Japanese Ocean suplex for two. Devil counters with a power bomb followed by two lariats. Devil goes for her Fire Volley finisher but Toyota turns it into a victory roll for the win at 14:20. Though the two hugged afterwards, the OZ Academy blog reported that Devil was actually unhappy with the way the match ended. Maybe it's an angle.

Next was Aja Kong vs KAORU. Aja chops KAORU in the corner followed by a body slam. She grabs KAORU by the hair and Police Complains. Aja laughs and applies a cobra hold. Aja continues to pound KAORU and applies a chicken wing. Things turn around when Ozaki attacks Aja and KAORU gets a sleeper. But Aja powers out and reverses it and tyrns it into a surfboard. KAORU evades a lariat with a cartwheel. Police hands her a board and KAORU nails Aja with it followed by a running elbow. She then hits a moonsault press. She goes up for another but is stopped by Ran YuYu. She gets Aja's knees. Aja hits a lariat and a diving elbow. Police & Takako Inoue interfere and along with Aja & Ran, they're all fighting outside the ring. KAORU hits Aja with the board but Aja no sells it and it shatters. Ozaki hits Aja with an Ozakick followed by KAORU's Excalibur for two. KAORU misses a moonsault press and Aja's back fist gets two. Aja hits a power bomb but then D-Fix attacks. KAORU sprays Aja with the mist and wins with a hurricanrana at 12:47. Well, you know what happens when Aja is pissed.

Next is the first of two OZ Academy Tag Team Tournament Semi Final matches. It's Chikayo Nagashima & Sonoko Kato vs AKINO & Hiroyo Matsumoto. Kato attacks Matsumoto with kicks followed by a Nagashima facebuster and more kicks. They continue to attack Matsumoto concentrating on her injured left hand. Nagashima stomps on the hand. Matsumoto tries to kick her away but Nagashima applies an armbar and twists the hand. AKINO tries to break things up but Matsumoto does get to the ropes. Nagashima tries to get Matsumoto up for a brainbuster. Sato comes in to help but Matsumoto takes them both over in a double brainbuster. The crowd reacts to Matsumoto's power. AKINO and Matsumoto hit Nagashima with a double dropkick. AKINO kicks Nagashima's legs and applies a Boston crab but Nagashima gets to the ropes. Nagashima & Sato attack AKINO with kicks. Sato nails AKINO's back with a heavy kick. AKINO hits a standing kick and a dropkick and gets Kato in a camel clutch and turns it into an armbar. AKINO traps Kato in the corner with a face wash followed by more kicks. AKINO hits a spin kick but Kato responds with a tope while AKINO is in a sitting position followed by a heel drop. Nagashima hits a footstamp and Kato hits a German suplex for two. AKINO turns Kato's backdrop into a sunset flip for two. Akino follows with a running elbow smash. Matsumoto tags in and hits a back elbow for two. Kato counters with kicks and a German suplex then a dragon suplex for two. Kato goes up to the corner. Matsumoto catches her but Nagashima catches Matsumoto and hits a backdrop. Kato follows with a diving guillotine legdrop. AKINO comes in and nails Kato with a soccer ball kick. While she fights with Nagashima, Matsumoto gets Kato in an Argentinian backbreaker. Nagashima breaks it up. Matsumoto misses a back elbow and Kato hits a German suplex and Nagashima hits a diving footstamp for two. Then a Fisherman buster for two. AKINO tags in and hits a back elbow, kicks, a dragon screw and a hurricanrana for two. Then a power bomb. Kato breaks it up. AKINO hits a diving knee drop to Nagashima's head. AKINO & Matsumoto attempt to sandwich Nagashima but collide. Kato knocks Matsumoto outside the ring while Nagashima hits a high kick followed by a Fisherman buster and a diving footstamp for the win at 16:41.

The second semi final has Dynamite Kansai & Carlos Amano vs Mayumi Ozaki & Takako Inoue. Kansai attacks Ozaki & they double team her with kicks. Amano rubs Ozaki's face into the rope. After a diving lariat, Amano applies a Boston crab. But Ozaki turns over and kicks out and stomps Amano. Takako tags in and applies an STF accented by hair pulling. When Amano grabs her hair, Takako picks her up and gives her a tombstone piledriver. Takako's overconfidence allows Amano to come back and tag Kansai. After two Kansai kicks, Takako hits a DDT and calls Ozaki. But Kansai hits a double lariat. Kansai kicks Takako followed by a lariat on the ropes. Kansai follows this with more kicks and a backdrop for two. Amano hits a diving lariat. Takako comes back with a kick, a jumping lariat, a back throw and a German suplex for two. But Amano hits the Carlos Ghosn and Ozaki reaches the ropes. Amano avoids the Ozakick and hits a dragon suplex. Two Carlos Ghosns and Kansai tags in. Kansai's powerslam gets two. Kansai hits a power bomb and a backdrop for two. Ozaki hits a back fist and Kansai blocks the Ozakick. Then Kansai hits a Splash Mountain for two. Kansai goes up to the top but Ozaki hits the Ozakick followed by a back fist and a diving footstamp for two. They continue to hit their finishers but don't finish. Kansai hits another Splash Mountain but Takako breaks up the pin. Then a diving footstamp for two. Finally Police enters the ring and D-Fix starts beating on Amano & Kansai. But Ozaki & Takako are DQd. Yes I know that makes no sense. It's all a big mess but the bottom line is the OZ Academy Tag Team Title Toutrnament final is between Chikayo Nagashima & Sonoko Kato vs Carlos Amano & Dynamite Kansai. Who knows what D-Fix will do?
