Song:Baby Dream Your Dream
Album:Want You
Jazz singer and pianist Tony DeSare should remind you of Frank Sinatra which is ironic because he appeared in the off-Broadway jukebox musical Our Sinatra. He was born 1976 in Glens Falls, NY. He played piano as a child and performed as a teen. He continued to perform while attending Ithaca College. DeSare moved to New York City in 1998. He had a regular gig at the Marquis Hotel in Times Square. DeSare appeared in the 2003 off-Broadway jukebox musical Our Sinatra. That show ran for a year. And then he was spotted by veteran guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli and that got him a deal with Telarc Records. Baby Dream Your Dream is from DeSare's 2005 debut CD Want You. He wrote half the songs with bassist and musical director Mike Lee. Baby Dream Your Dream was written by Dorothy Fields and Cy Coleman for the musical Sweet Charity. Tony Bennett recorded it in 1968. But it's a song that hasn't been covered much. Along with Lee, Brian Czach plays drums. Bucky Pizzarelli makes a guest appearance. And a horn section is added on some tracks. DeSare recorded three albums for Telarc. And then Telarc's parent company Heads Up was swallowed by Concord. Since then DeSare has recorded for his own label AJD Entertainment. His latest album Lush Life with pianist Tedd Firth was released last month. DeSare plays New York clubs and he is currently on tour. Here's Tony DeSare performing Baby Dream Your Dream with Edward Decker on guitar, Kenneth Seiffert on bass and Brian Czach on drums at the Smith Center in Las Vegas Mar. 26, 2016.
