Big Bad Blog Video Theater-Gillian Robertson vs Veronica Macedo

Here's the match video of Gillian Robertson vs Veronica Macedo from yesterday's UFC show in Prague, Czech Republic. Gillian is from Niagara Falls, ON and she trains at American Top Team in Florida. For this fight she trained at Roofusport in Milwaukee. She is a submission specialist with subpar striking. Veronica was born in Venezuela but she lives in France. She lost her two UFC fights. I don't think she belongs in the UFC. Gillian took Veronica down early in round one and I wouldn't say she dominated because Veronica turned things around a couple of times. But Veronica was defending most of the time and she really didn't generate any offense. I scored round one 10-9 for Gillian. Veronica's only hope in round two was to keep the fight standing. But Gillian got another takedown and after a couple of submission attempts, she got Veronica's back and won with a rear naked choke. It's good to see Gillian bounce back from a loss. I really like Gillian's submission skills. But she really needs to improve her striking if she's going to get anywhere with some of the better fighters in the Flyweight division. Her striking needs to be good enough to set up her takedowns just to make things more difficult for opponents to anticipate what she will do. As for Veronica, she could be headed for Palookaville.
