Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Invicta FC 30 analysis
Invicta announced the full card for Invicta FC 30 July 21 at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City. As usual, I will analyze the card. The main event is for the Invicta Atomweight Championship. It will be Jinh Yu Frey vs Minna Grusander. My first question is what did Jinh do to deserve a title shot? She got an Invicta title shot a couple of years ago and she lost to Ayaka Hamasaki. More recently, she got a shot at Ham Seo Hee's ROAD FC Atomweight Championship and lost. That doesn't seem like someone who should get a title shot. Shouldn't someone be on a winning streak to get a title shot? I guess they like her a lot or they overrate her. Pick one. Minna is from Finland. She won her Invicta debut in March. She looked good. Maybe she should win a couple more fights before getting a title shot. In a Welterweight bout, Felicia Spencer will face Helena Kolesnyk. Felicia is 27 years old from Montreal. She is 4-0 and she has looked good in all her fights. The problem is Helena is awful. She's from Russia. I saw some of her Chinese fights. She looked awful. Then she made her Invicta debut last year and she looked awful. Why are they bringing her back? Geez! In a Flyweight bout, Miranda Maverick will face Brogan Walker-Sanchez. Miranda is from Springfield, MO. She has won all three of her Invicta fights. Brogan is 5-0. She won her Invicta debut in Jan. but her other fights were for PXC in Guam. Both are probably too high on the card. And at Strawweight, Heather Jo Clark will face Kinberly Novaes. Heather was on TUF 20. She went 1-2 in the UFC. She seems to have slowed down since having knee surgery a couple of years ago. And she's 37 years old. Does Invicta have to bring in every ex-UFC fighter? Kinberly isn't much better. She is 27 years old from Brazil. Her record is 9-4 but she didn't look good when she debuted in Invicta in Dec. In an Atomweight bout, Shino VanHoose will face Alesha Zappitella. Shino was born in Japan but she now lives in Boise, ID. Her record is 6-5. She won her most recent Invicta fight. But I saw her fight in Japan a few years ago. She's not very good. Alesha is making her Invicta debut. She is 23 years old from Ypsilanti, MI. Her record is 3-0. So obviously she's unproven. In a Flyweight bout, Erin Blanchfield will face Brittney Cloudy. Both are making their Invicta debuts. Erin has a 1-0 MMA record. But her claim to fame is she won the Eddie Bravo Invitational last year. Brittney is 28 years old from St. Louis. She has a 7-2 amateur record. And in an Atomweight bout, Alyse Anderson will face Stephanie Alba. Alyse is 23 years old from Michigan. She lost her Invicta debut last Aug. to Shino VanHoose. Stephanie is 36 years old from Houston. She didn't look very good losing in her Invicta debut in Jan. She's a little old to be a prospect. As seems to be par for the course, the main card is weak.
