Kelly McGill |
Fight News Australia reported today that Janay Harding vs Kelly McGill has been added to the Aug. 29 Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series (DWTNCS). The source for this appears to be Janay's Instagram where she posted a not very cryptic clue. This is a Bantamweight fight. Janay is 22 years old from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Right now she is training at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas. Her record is 3-2. Her last fight was a win over Ramona Pacual on the May 31 E-1 show in Hong Kong. Her two losses were to Jessy-Rose Clark and Arlene Biencowe both of whom are more experienced than her. Regardless of her opponent, this is a big step up in competition for Janay. The good news is Syndicate's John Wood is a great coach and he can help her a lot. Kelly is also 22 years old from Oakdale, CA. She trains at Last Stand Fight Club which is also the home of UFC veteran Michael McDonald. Her record is 2-1 but she's 1-1 in Invicta. So that gives Kelly an edge in experience. She was supposed to fight on the Aug. 31 Invicta show but I guess they will have to replace her. As I have said before, a couple of UFC contracts are up for grabs on the DWTNCS. So the UFC could award a contract to either fighter or neither. Both fighters need to show urgency.
