Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Maryna Moroz vs Cristina Stanciu added to Apr. 10 UFC show
The UFC announced today that Maryna Moroz vs Cristina Stanciu in the Strawweight division has been added to UFC Fight Night 86 Apr. 10 at Zagreb Arena in Zagreb, Croatia. This show will air on Fox Sports 1 in the US and TSN in Canada. But I expect this fight will air on the UFC Fight Pass prelims. Maryna is from the Ukraine. If she had won her last fight, she could have got the title shot that went to the woman who beat her, Valerie Letourneau. And Maryna looked bad enough in that fight that it raises questions about her. Cristina is 21 years old from Bucharest, Romania. Her nickname is Barbie. Her record is 5-0. All her fights have been for Romanian Xtreme Fighting and she trains at Absoluto Bucharest. All her fights have been at 125lb so she's dropping a weight class too. She's finished four of her five fights in the first round. I doubt that much can be learned from brief fights against low level competition. But Cristina's other fight was a split decision win over Alice Ardelean on Mar. 16, 2015. And that's the fight video I have for you. Cristina wears the blue top. I didn't think much of Cristina's wild swinging at the start of the fight as that led to an empty gas tank. And I think that's the reason the fight went the distance because her opponent didn't show much offense. All Alice did was clinch and that pissed off the ref and that kind of fighting leads to decision losses. All of Cristina's fights have been at home in Romania against hand picked opponents. So this is not only a big step up in competition. But it's also outside her comfort zone. UFC jitters could be a factor. We'll see how it goes. Check out the video.
