Artist:Tamar Braxton
Song:Love And War
Album:Love And War
Tamar Braxton was around the music business for many years before she finally scored a hit single with Love And War in 2012. She was born Mar. 17, 1977 in Severn, MD and of course she is the youngest of the six Braxton children including her famous sister Toni Braxton. Daddy was a preacher so of course they grew up singing in church. The Braxtons signed with Arista Records in 1989. They released a single but it went nowhere and Arista dropped them. Then Toni Braxton signed with LaFace Records in 1991. The Braxtons toured with Toni and then were signed to LaFace by A & R VP Bryant Reid. When he left LaFace for Atlantic, he took The Braxtons with him. Traci left The Braxtons in 1994. The trio released the 1996 album Two Many Ways and it didn't sell. Then Tamar signed a solo deal with DreamWorks and The Braxtons split up. Tamar recorded an album with producer Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. But when two singles failed to chart, DreamWorks shelved the album. It was reworked and released as Tamar in 2000. When it didn't sell, DreamWorks dropped Tamar. Tamar signed with Tommy Mottola's revived Casablanca label in 2004. But there were problems and the label closed. Then in 2010, Tamar signed with Universal. Nothing came from that. Her luck started to turn when WE TV started the reality series Braxton Family Values. They spun Tamar and husband Vincent Herbert off to the series Tamar & Vince. She signed with his label Streamline distributed by Epic. The first season of the series had Tamar recording the album Love And War. The single Love And War did well on the R & B charts and the album was actually released. Tamar says she wrote the song about her marriage. The song was produced by Darhyl Camper Jr. AKA DJ Camper and co-written by LaShawn Daniels and Makeba Riddick. Tamar gave birth to her son in 2013. Since then, Tamar has released two albums that haven't done as well as Love And War. Season four of Tamar & Vince finished in February. She is also one of the hosts of the syndicated talk show The Real and that has been renewed for two more seasons. The show airs on some Fox stations and on BET. She toured to support an album last year and she was nominated for a Grammy. I think she does enough of this other stuff to keep recording. Here's the video for Love And War by Tamar Braxton.
