Here's the match video of Amanda Nunes vs Valentina Shevchenko from last night's UFC show in Las Vegas. I did not see it live because I was at a jazz concert. Amanda likes to finish fights in round one but tends to run out of gas in the late rounds. Valentina is a champion caliber kickboxer. She got a big win over Sarah Kaufman in her UFC debut. The first round was atypical of an Amanda Nunes fight. She didn't go for a quick finish. It was mostly light sparring until Amanda scored a takedown at the end of the round. I scored it 10-9 for Amanda. Valentina did nothing. Round two was more typical of Amanda. She took Valentina down and busted her open with elbows. and she attempted a rear naked choke but ran out of time. I scored the round 10-8 for Amanda. She also ran out of gas in round three. Valentina did better but I think it was mostly because Amanda was tired. Valentina needed a finish but she didn't come close. She won the round 10-9 but Amanda won by unanimous decision. Valentina's reaction to the decision indicate she thought she won. She needs to watch the fight. Amanda still needs work on her endurance. I don't think she could go five rounds right now.
