Nina Ansaroff |
UFC Brazil announced today that a women's Strawweight fight has been added to the Nov. 8 show in Umberlandia, Brazil. This fight will be on the prelims. It will be Brazilian Juliana Lima vs Nina Ansaroff. Juliana was one of the contracts that the UFC bought from Invicta. But she dropped out of TUF claiming her English isn't good enough. So she made her UFC debut on the July 26 show in San Jose against Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Juliana tried to psyche out Joanna with mugging but Joanna proceeded to beat her up for three rounds. It was a poor performance but I had seen Juliana fight in Invicta. I wasn't impressed with her then and that fight didn't change my mind. She has to show us something and maybe fighting in Brazil will spark her. But Nina Ansaroff will not be an easy opponent. She is 6-3 and she trains at MMA Masters in Florida. Amanda Nunes also trains there. She got off to a slow start in her career but she has won her last five fights including a KO win over Munah Holland on the Dec. 7, 2013 Invicta show. She has fought mostly at 125lb but when the UFC comes calling, she will do what she has to do. And I think her record is deceiving. Two of her losses were close decisions so she could easily be 8-1. This is a big opportunity for Nina. Just be sure to get visas for your corner guys.
