Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Full Card for Nov. 1 Invicta show announced
So now Invicta has announced the complete card for the Nov. 1 show in Davenport, IA. And after looking at the full card, the biggest problem is the main event between Barb Honchak and Takayo Hashi could be a stinker because of Hashi's history. I don't think the rest of the card has enough to offset a potentially disastrous main event. Invicta has a very bad habit of bringing in fighters from Europe or Brazil who have good records but haven't fought decent competition. They don't know if a fighter like that will be any good. And on this show they have put a couple of unproven fighters way too high on the show against elite fighters. First MIZUKI will face Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz. 19 year old MIZUKI is the current DEEP JEWELS Lightweight (52kg) Champion. She will be in the UFC next year. Kowalkiewicz is the current champ of the Polish company KSW. She's 5-0 but she hasn't beaten anyone even close to MIZUKI's level. I would describe her as unproven. Then they have Ayaka Hamasaki facing Brazilian Helena Tiburcio. After her knee surgery, Ayaka dropped to 105lb and beat Sugi Rock on the May DEEP JEWELS show. My guess is if she wins this fight, Ayaka gets a shot at Invicta Atomweight Champ Michelle Waterson. Helena is 8-2 but she hasn't beaten anyone decent. One of her losses was to Claudia Gadelha. It also looks to be the first rime she will fight at 105lb. I just don't believe in placing unproven fighters this high on the card. Try them out on the prelims. Weed out the bad ones. Next we have Kaitlin Young vs Cindy Dandois. Kaitlin has been around a long time but she's basically a kickboxer with no ground game. And she has a 7-8 record. I know she's a fan favourite. But she's not good. This is Cindy's first fight since 2011 after having a baby. Who knows what she will be like? She was a decent fighter. Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc will face Jodie Esquibel. Jodie is the only fighter from the most recent Invicta show who is on this show. Quick turnaround. Nicdali has been begging Invicta for a fight. Her record isn't the best but she is entertaining. Amber Brown will face Liz McCarthy. I like Amber. She went to Japan and did well in Pancrase. Liz is OK. That one should be interesting. Amanda Bell will face Danish fighter Maria Hougaard Djursaa. Amanda recently KOd Ronda Rousey's BFF Marina Shafir. I've seen Maria before. I'm not crazy about her. I'm not familiar with any of the prelim fighters. All are fairly new to MMA. The matches are Shannon Sinn vs Andrea Lee, Jenny Liou Shriver vs Jamie Moyle and Kelly McGill vs Maegan Goodwin. Maybe unproven fighters with padded records should be on the prelims too.
