The success of lovelytheband's 2017 debut single Broken shows how important streaming services have become in the music business. After over three million streams on Spotify, Broken was a surprise top 30 pop hit. That set up the band for future success. lovelytheband are from Los Angeles. Lead singer Mitchy Collins was in the band Oh Honey. After they split up, he met guitarist Jordan Greenwald and drummer Sam Price at a club and they formed lovelytheband. They got together with producer Christian Medice and they released the 2017 EP Evereything I Could Say... and the single Broken. Medice and Collins had worked together previously. Broken did so well on Spotify that it reached #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also got them a record deal with Another Century Records which is now owned by Sony. Broken appears on lovelytheband's 2018 debut album Finding It Hard to Smile. Collins and Medice wrote the song with Samantha DeRosa. Collins wrote the song after Oh Honey split up and he broke up with his girlfriend and moved to Los Angeles from his home in Brooklyn. The girl in the video is model Skyler Benton. lovelytheband went out on tour and have released their second album Conversations with Myself About You. It hasn't been as successful as the first album.
