Here's the match video of Asuka, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch vs Carmella, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce which was the main event of last night's episode of Smackdown. The purpose of this match was to set up Carmella defending her title vs Charlotte this Sunday. So I expected the babyfaces to win especially after last week. The WWE loves 50/50 booking. The match itself was better than average mostly because the closing stretch was really good especially when Asuka turned things up. I also thought the Aussies were really good. They are a lot better wrestlers than might be perceived from their Mean Girls behavior. On the other hand, Carmella is about as bad as she seems. She's just not a wrestler. And about her screaming, Vince loves that. Don't you remember Melina screaming at the top of her lungs? I would recommend that Charlotte not do the moonsault on Sunday because I don't think Carmella can catch her properly. The match started slow but it picked up halfway through when the Aussies ambushed Asuka from the ring apron onto the floor and rammed her into the steps. The heels ganged up on Charlotte. And just when things looked really bad, Asuka hopped up on the apron and tagged in. She ran wild and the crowd went nuts. And to top it off, she turned Peyton's rollup pin into the Asuka Lock. She keeps coming up with new transitions that we haven't seen before. Of course the show closed with Charlotte staring down Carmella. And that sets up for Backlash this Sunday. Asuka doesn't have a match this Sunday. But I would not be surprised if she is on the pre-show. Enjoy the video!
