AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Project Trio

Artist:Project Trio
Song:Dr.Nick
Album:Random Roads Collection

Here's an interesting group. Project Trio is three classically trained musicians performing non-classical music in the style of chamber music. I guess it's similar to The Turtle Island Quartet which I wrote about a few years ago. They have built a following on Youtube. Project Trio is Greg Pattillo on flute, Eric Stephenson on cello and Peter Seymour on bass. All three were students at the Cleveland Institute of Music. They all graduated and worked in symphony orchestras. Seymour and Stephenson were at the Colorado Music Festival when they got the idea to start a chamber music group but play jazz and rock. They asked Pattillo if he was interested. Project Trio was born. They posted a video on Youtube in 2007 and I guess what got them a lot of attention was Pattillo incorporating beatbox into his flute playing. That video got over 26 million views. Pattillo was in the Cleveland Orchestra and he joined the other two in New York to concentrate on this new project. They started their own label Harmonyville and they have been releasing CDs since 2007. Dr. Nick is from the 2010 CD Project Trio. In 2012, they signed with the electronica label Tummy Touch to release the sampler CD Random Roads Collection so music fans could try out their music. Project Trio does a lot of guest appearances with regional symphony orchestras and at schools to educate young musicians. Most of the music is original compositions though they also perform jazz standards. Here's Project Trio performing Dr. Nick in 2015 for Gemeinhardt, a flute maker that sponsors them.
