AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Iggy Azalea

Artist:Iggy Azalea f/Charli XCX
Song:Fancy
Album:Reclassified

Though she started out as a model, Iggy Azalea always wanted to be a rapper. And thus begins one of the more unlikely success stories in recent music history. After the big splash, can she follow it up? She was born Amethyst Kelly June 7, 1990 in Sydney, Australia. She started rapping as a teen. At age 16, she told her parents she was going on holiday to the US. But when she got to Miami, she told her parents she wasn't returning. Her stage name is after her childhood dog. She moved to Los Angeles in 2010 with the intention of recording for Interscope. After releasing a mixtape, T.I. wanted to sign her to his Grand Hustle label. But Interscope wouldn't allow it. While waiting for this to sort out, Iggy did some modelling to make money. Her record deal didn't work out and she signed with DefJam in the US and Virgin in England. Finally The New Classic was released Apr. 2014 after a two year delay. Most of the album was produced by the production team of The Invisible Men (George Astacio, Jon Shave, Jason Pebworth) and Kurtis "The Arcade" McKenzie. The Invisible Man had some success in England with their band Orson before turning to production. They have also worked with Sugababes and Jessie J. Fancy featuring Charli XCX topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks. The video is a tribute to the film Clueless. Reclassified is a reissue of The New Classic with some new songs. Iggy released the single Team last week and her new album Digital Distortion is coming but no release date has been announced. Is Iggy Azalea a flash in the pan? We'll see. Here's the video for Fancy by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX.
