Garth Brooks was one of the most popular country music artists of the 90s. As you are probably aware, he retired in 2001. Even when Brooks was hot, he was always accused of not being country enough. Brooks returned in 2009 but he continued to record occasionally including this 2007 recording of Workin' for A Livin' with Huey Lewis. During his retirement, Brooks released the 2005 box set The Limited Series exclusively at Wal-Mart. This had all his previously released albums along with a CD of previously unreleased recordings called The Lost Sessions. This was released as a single CD in 2006. It included a duet with wife Trisha Yearwood Love Will Always Win. The Ultimate Hits was released in 2007. It's a 2CD/1DVD greatest hits collection and it's available at a great price so it's recommended. There were four new recordings in this package. More Than A Memory was one of those new songs and it topped the Country Singles chart when it was released as the first single. Workin' For A Livin' was the second single. It reached #19 on the Country Singles chart. The Ultimate Hits was certified 7XPlatinum so it was a huge success. Of course Workin' For A Livin' was a top 20 hit for Huey Lewis in 1982. Brooks asked Lewis to record it with him. NASCAR fans will notice the video was shot at Atlanta Motor Speedway. All of Brooks' videos including Workin' For A Livin' are included in The Ultimate Hits DVD. Brooks continued to perform occasionally until he officially came out of retirement in 2009. After a residency at Encore Las Vegas, Brooks returned to touring full time in 2014. He also released the CD Man Against Machine in Sept. 2014 on his new label RCA. Other than the cancellations in Ireland, Brooks is still a strong live draw and the album did OK but it didn't do as well as his 90s albums. In June, Brooks said he is working on a Christmas duets album with wife Trisha Yearwood scheduled for late 2015 release. here's the video for Workin' For A Livin' by Garth Brooks featuring Huey Lewis.
