Matthew Broderick was a big film star in the 80s especially in the very popular film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. When his career faded in the 90s, he turned to voiceover work and then turned to his roots on the stage. He starred in the Broadway and film versions of The Producers. He was born Mar. 21, 1962 in New York City the son of actor James Broderick. His breakthrough role was in the off-Broadway production Torch Song Trilogy. After starring in Neil Simon's Eugene Trilogy, he played the same role in the films Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues. He did some other films but really struck gold with Ferris Bueller's Day Off and he was also in the 1989 film Glory. When things slowed down, he voiced Simba in the film The Lion King. Then he turned to Broadway and won a Tony for his performance in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Of course The Producers was a very successful 1968 film written and directed by Mel Brooks. David Geffen convinced Brooks to turn it into a musical and it became a big hit on Broadway. It won several Tony awards and was turned into a 2005 film mostly using the Broadway cast including Broderick and Nathan Lane. And you can get the film on DVD and the soundtrack on CD. Matthew Broderick and wife Sarah Jessica Parker and family live in New York City. Broderick still does occasional films but seems to enjoy working on the stage and continues to do both.
