Artist:Kenny Chesney f/Pink
Song:Setting the World on Fire
Album:Cosmic Hallelujah
Kenny Chesney scored his first number one country hit in 1997. The 2016 single Setting the World on Fire is his most recent number one country hit. What they have in common is they were on Sony. Cosmic Hallelujah was his final album on Sony. His three latest albums have been on Warner Bros. Chesney first recorded for Capricorn Records in 1994. Capricorn soon closed their Nashville office and Chesney signed with RCA's BNA label. He scored 21 number one country hits on BNA. Then Sony closed BNA in 2011 and Chesney was moved to Columbia and he started his own label Blue Chair. He continued to have success but he only had two number one country hits on Columbia. The 2016 single Setting the World on Fire was his final #1 hit on Columbia. It's from the album Cosmic Hallelujah. The album was certified Gold. Chesney and his long time producer Buddy Cannon produced the album. Setting the World on Fire was written by veteran songwriters Ross Copperman, Matt Jenkins and Josh Osborne. The record was nominated for a Grammy. The actors in the video are Joel Ezra Hebner and Abigail Kuklis. The album is available on CD. Sony hasn't released a comp since 2009. Then Chesney announced that he was leaving Sony for Warner Bros. Chesney's statement at the time was that he was impressed with the enthusiasm of Warners management. I'm sure he spoke to Warners artists like Blake Shelton. Sometimes an artist makes a change for change's sake. And that may be true of Chesney. He has released three albums for Warners. And he's still working with Buddy Cannon. Maybe he was just complacent at Sony. But the change to Warners hasn't been successful yet. Maybe Chesney is getting old and it's time to slow down. I doubt he will admit that. Here's the video for Setting the World on Fire by Kenny Chesney featuring Pink.
