Artist:Chris Rice
Song:The Other Side of the Radio
Album:Short Term Memories
CCM singer Chris Rice had success as a songwriter before he got a record deal in the late 90s. After some success on the Christian charts, he went on hiatus in 2007. His attempts to return haven't been successful. He was born June 11, 1962 in Clinton, MD. His parents owned a Christian bookstore. He took piano lessons but he wasn't looking for a career in music though he was a youth group leader. After attending college and earning a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Communications, he got back into leading youth groups on a full time basis. He moved from his home in Washington, DC to Nashville to get into the music business. Some of his songs were recorded by artists like Kathy Troccoli. After the Christmas song Welcome to Our World was recorded by Amy Grant, John Tesh and Michael W. Smith, Smith offered Rice a record deal on his new label Rocketown. Rice recorded four albums for Rocketown all produced by Monroe Jones who had produced Third Day. The Other Side of the Radio is from is the 2003 album Run the Earth...Watch the Sky. This was Rice's final album for Rocketown. He didn't fit into the label's demographic. This comp was released after that. Rice recorded three albums for Jones' label Ebb + Flow with INO/Sony distribution. Then he went on hiatus. He returned in 2019 with the duo Ripp+Rice with Andrew Ripp. Then in 2020, there were sexual assault allegations from 1995-2003 when Rice was a youth worship leader at Tates Creek Presbyterian Church in Lexington, KY. The church hired the non profit GRACE to investigate and they found that the allegations were credible. That should end his music career. Here's the video for The Other Side of the Radio by Chris Rice.
