Artist:Treble Charger
Song:How She Died
Album:Maybe It's Me
Treble Charger had success mostly in their native Canada. Attempts to break them in the US were unsuccessful. The 1997 album Maybe It's Me was probably their best album. Treble Charger are from Sault Ste Marie, ON. Lead singer Grieg Nori, guitarist Bill Priddle and bassist Rosie Martin went to high school together. They added drummer Morris Palter and called themselves NC-17. But there was another band with that name so it was changed to Treble Charger. They released an album on their own label and then a 1995 album on Sonic Unyon. They got some airplay on alt rock radio and MuchMusic and that got them a record deal with RCA Canada. The 1997 album Maybe It's Me was more pop than their previous albums. Nori thought the band needed to be more commercial. Palter was fired during the recording of the album. Mike Levesque was brought in to finish the album and then Trevor McGregor was the permanent drummer. The album did well enough that the 2000 album Wide Awake Bored was released in the US by Nettwerk Records. It didn't go anywhere. The other thing was Nori was starting to have success as the producer and manager of the popular band Sum 41. And Priddle was unhappy with the band's move from punk to a pop sound. So after the 2002 album Detox, Treble Charger split up. Nori continued as a manager. Priddle released a 2008 album as The Priddle Concern. Nori and Priddle restarted Treble Charger in 2012. They played a few shows and there has been talk about recording new music. But there has been nothing so far. Maybe It's Me is available as a budget CD. Here's the video for How She Died by Treble Charger.
