Song:Then Came You
Album:Kings Of Freestyle
Here's a dance hit popular in the Northeast that briefly crossed over to pop in 1991. Adam Marano is mainly a producer but he sings on Then Came You. T.P.E. stands for The Philadelphia Experiment. From what I could tell, T.P.E. is the first music Marano ever produced and then he went on to other things. The single Then Came You was a dance hit and it reached #91 on the Billboard Hot 100. So it obviously got more airplay than most dance tracks. Marano is the lead singer on the song. The background vocals are by Denine Latanzo who worked with Marano on other projects and recorded a couple of albums as Denine. The rap is by Ton-De-Jon. It looks to be his only appearance. Marano only recorded one album as T.P.E. for Micmac Records. The album is out of print but you can get Then Came You on this various artists budget comp. Marano went on to form Collage with Anthony Monteleone and they were around longer and therefore more successful. They recorded for Monteleone's label Viper 7. I don't know if he's still active. He was certainly a big part of the freestyle scene for a long time. Here's a video for Then Came You by T.P.E.
