Germaine De Randamie, Sarah Kaufman |
Last night it was reported by Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel and confirmed by the UFC this morning that Sarah Kaufman vs Germaine De Randamie has been added to UFC on FOX 17 Dec. 19 at the Amway Center in Orlando. I expect this fight to air on the prelims. Germaine is a champion kickboxer who has had mixed results transitioning to MMA because she has no ground game. But in her last UFC fight in March, she got an easy win over Larissa Pacheco with a second round TKO. Larissa broke her arm during round one. According to Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, Germaine asked the UFC for a top five ranked opponent. Sarah is ranked number five though I think that might be high and she seems to be on the way down. Sarah is a former Strikeforce champ who lost her most recent fight to Alexis Davis by submission. Sarah was supposed to fight Holly Holm until Holly was pulled to challenge for Ronda Rousey's UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship. Then Sarah started begging for fights on Twitter which I think she should stop doing as I don't think it gets her anywhere. Unlike Germaine, Sarah has ground skills but she chooses not to use them. So if this turns into a kickboxing match, Germaine should have the edge because she's a kickboxing champ. And she's bigger than Sarah. So the direction of this fight may depend if one of these two fighters tries something different. Otherwise I'm expecting a three round kickboxing match.
