Song:Love Me Like You Mean It
Album:The First Time
Now that Taylor Swift has officially abandoned country music for pop, country music fans may be looking for someone similar. You might want to try Kelsea Ballerini who made a big splash with her 2014 debut single Love Me Like You Mean It. She was born Sept. 12, 1993 in Mascot, TN. and she grew up in Knoxville. Her dad is a country music radio station programmer. Kelsea wrote her first song at age 12 and then she moved to Nashville at age 15. Then at age 19, she signed a record deal with Black river Entertainment. Black River is owned by the Pegula family who are Pennsylvania oil magnates and they own the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. Jimmy Nichols runs the record label. So they aren't a typical indie label because the Pegulas are loaded. They signed Kelsea in 2013 and Love Me like You Mean It was her first single. It reached #5 on the Country Singles chart. Then Kelsea's debut CD The First Time was released May 2015 and it did OK. Kelsea co-wrote most of the songs on the album including Love Me Like You Mean It. Forest Glen Whitehead wrote most of the songs with her and produced the album with Jason Massey. Whitehead is from Louisiana and he is under contract to Black River. The video for Love Me Like You Mean It was nominated for a CMT award and she's nominated for some CMA awards. She's been touring with Lady Antebellum and Hunter Hayes. Her music has rock elements in it but if she sticks with country music, Kelsea Ballerini could pick up fans from disgruntled Taylor Swift fans. Here's the video for Love Me Like You Mean It by Kelsea Ballerini.
