Young Folks is the best known song by the Swedish trio Peter Bjorn and John. It was a hit in Europe after it appeared in the video game FIFA 08. Fans of the TV series Gossip Girl will know it as well. Lead singer Peter Moren and bassist Bjorn Yttling went to high school together in Vasteras, Sweden. They moved to Stockholm and in 1999, Moren met drummer John Eriksson at a party. They formed Peter Bjorn and John and they released an album independently. For the 2004 CD Falling Out, they were picked up in the US by Hidden Agenda. This led to a contract with V2 (formerly Virgin Records) for the 2006 CD Writer's Block. This has been their most successful CD to date and is probably the one most fans should get. Young Folks features The Concretes lead singer Victoria Bergsman. The song was a hit in Europe and got some airplay in the US. It was used in the popular video game FIFA 08 and was used in the opening scene of the very first episode of the TV series Gossip Girl. It has turned up in other films and TV shows. The success allowed Peter Bjorn and John to tour and work on some individual projects. Their latest CD Gimme Some was released Mar. 2011 on Cooking Vinyl. They worked with Canadian rapper Drake on Let's Call It Off in 2009. Peter Moren has released three solo CDs. Yttling and Eriksson have also recorded solo and are members of the Swedish music collective INGRID. It says on their website that they are recording new music.
