Artist:The Shelters
Song:Rebel Heart
Album:The Shelters
The Shelters were a band that looked to have potential. Tom Petty liked them and got them a record deal with Warner Bros. But after Petty's 2017 death, Warners lost interest in The Shelters and that led to the 2021 split. The Shelters were formed in Los Angeles in 2014 by guitarist Chase Simpson, bassist Josh Jove and drummer Sebastian Harris. They were all in the band Automatik Slim. Petty saw them and invited them to record at his home studio. They were very excited because recording studio time is expensive. Petty got them a record deal with his label Warner Bros. He also used them as his backup band on Petty's 2014 album Hypnotic Eye and on tour. They also appeared on the 2016 album Mudcrutch 2. Finally The Shelters released their 2016 self titled album. Simpson and Jove wrote all the songs including Rebel Heart. The band also produced the album with Petty and recording engineer Ryan Ulyate. The album was favorably reviewed so the future looked bright. The album is available as a digital download. Sadly, Petty died in 2017. The Shelters released the 2019 album Jupiter Sidecar. Again, they wrote all the songs and produced with recording engineer Joe Chiccarelli. But after Petty's death, Warners lost interest in The Shelters and the band was unhappy with the promotion of the record. They decided to leave Warners and ultimately decided to split up in 2021. Jove has already started his own band and the other two should resurface at some point. It's too bad because The Shelters had potential Here's the video by Rebel Heart by The Shelters.
