AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Gothard Sisters

Artist:The Gothard Sisters

Song:Marching On

Album:Story Girl

Fans of Celtic music should enjoy The Gothard Sisters. They perform traditional and original songs and they tour across the US. They produce everything for their own label. They are not from Ireland. They are from Edmonds, WA. The oldest is Greta Gothard followed by Willow and Solana. They all took violin lessons as children. One day their mom brought home a video of the Broadway show Riverdance. After watching that, they decided to take Irish dance lessons. And they wanted to learn about Celtic music. The dancing is part of their act and all three have competed in the world championship of Irish dancing. They were spotted by a Nashville talent scout in 2007 and he became their agent. They learned to play other instruments like electric guitar, bodhran and mandolin. They sing in harmony. Solana is usually the lead singer. The Gothard Sisters were named Best New Artist at the 2013 Irish Music Awards. Since 2006, they have recorded for their own label. Marching On is from the 2011 album Story Girl. The album is half traditional songs and half original songs. Marching On is an original song. They self produce and arrange everything. This album was named Album of the Year by Celtic Radio. Greta produces all their YouTube videos and Willow makes all the costumes. The album is available as a digital download. They released the album A Celtic Christmas last year. I assume that The Gothard Sisters could get a record deal or a PBS deal if they wanted. But I guess they like to do everything themselves. Here's the video for Marching On by The Gothard Sisters.
