Album:Duh: Deluxe Edition
The punk band Lagwagon have been around since the 90s. They have never had commercial success but they do have a rabid following. They were called Section 8 when they were formed in 1988 in Goleta, CA which is near Santa Barbara. Joey Cape is the lead singer and Chris Flippin is the guitarist. They are the two original members still with the band. When they recorded the 1992 debut album Duh, the other members were Shawn Dewey on guitar, Jesse Buglione on bass and Derrick Plourde on drums. They signed with Fat Wreck Chords owned by NOFX lead singer Mike Burkett. He produced the album and renamed the band Lagwagon after their touring van. Duh was released in a 2CD deluxe edition in 2011. As other bands like Green Day, The Offspring and Rancid had commercial success, Lagwagon turned down major labels and stuck with what made them. Dewey and Plourde left in 1996 and were replaced by Chris Rest and Dave Raun. Lagwagon went on hiatus in 2000 because all the members were working on side projects. They returned with the 2003 album Blaze. They went on hiatus again in 2008. Bassist Jesse Buglione was replaced by Joe Raposo. They returned to tour to support the 2011 release of deluxe editions of their albums. They released a new album in 2014 and another in 2019. Lagwagon is heading to Europe shortly. Here's Lagwagon performing Mr. Coffee at the 1998 Bizarre Festival for the German TV show Rockpalast.
