Rapper Kareem "Choclair" Blake had success in his native Canada. The 1999 single Let's Ride was his biggest hit. He was born Mar. 27, 1975 in Scarborough, ON which is an east Toronto suburb. His parents are Jamaican. He started rapping in high school as Choclair. After releasing a single and an EP independently, Blake signed with Virgin's Priority label. He appeared on Rascalz 1997 single Northern Touch. The album Ice Cold was released in 1999. Let's Ride was the first single. It reached #38 on the Canadian Singles chart, #19 on the Canadian Dance/Urban chart and #37 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart. Blake wrote the song with rapper Saukrates who appears on the record. It was produced by rapper Kardinal Offishall. He produced four tracks on the album. Saukrates and Solitair also produced. Guests include Guru, Rascalz, Jully Black, Memphis Bleek and Rahzel. This album is available as a budget CD. Blake won a Best Rap Recording Juno award. When Blake's 2002 album Memoirs of Blake Savage didn't do as well, he left Virgin. Since then Blake released the 2003 album Flagrant on his own label with EMI distribution and then a couple of independent albums. Blake last released an album in 2006 but he still releases occasional singles. Here's the video for Let's Ride by Choclair featuring Saukrates.
